It doesn’t take much these days…

Massive spoiler alert, right? It is important if we are going to embark on increasing our activity that we do it in a way that doesn’t kill us.

Some tips on surviving beyond the sedentary lifestyle:

  • Start slow
  • Start small
  • Stretch
  • Kick out the jams (optional…not really, maybe, your call)
  • Don’t worry about how you look
  • Sweating is a good thing for your body
  • Stretch again
  • Hydrate
  • Rest

One of the primary goals of achieving a healthier lifestyle for me is to do it in a way that isn’t a total shock to my system. There’s no point in being a weekend warrior or a Saturday samurai only to get hurt and not be able to continue. A healthier lifestyle involves us being more active, so our activity has to fit into our daily routine.

Many folks have told me they are embarrassed to work out in front of other people. We shouldn’t let this be a barrier. Being more active can literally be walking. If we sweat while we’re walking chances are someone else is too. We will often find encouragement in the most unlikely of places, especially if we are around like-minded people in various stages of the health improvement journey.

Have fun…I…will try to stop sweating so I can eat dinner,
